Welcome to a two-part webinar. First, we meet Andreas Bengtsson, researcher at RISE, who will let us know about the potential of biobased carbon fibers from cellulose and lignin. Thereafter Åsa Östlund will let us know more about the company Tree To Textile, offering a new technology to enable a new sustainable man-made cellulosic textile fiber.

Dr. Andreas Bengtsson
Bio-based carbon fibers from cellulose and lignin
Dr Andreas Bengtsson is a materials scientist working in the Lignin Unit at RISE. His main areas of expertise are fiber development and carbonization of biopolymers such as lignin and cellulose. The topic of Andreas’ presentation will be the development of bio-based carbon fibers from cellulose and lignin, which was the theme of his PhD studies.
Åsa Östlund
TreeToTextile – Better fibers to all
Åsa Östlund is an expert in the fields of ‘Dissolution and regeneration of cellulose’ and ‘Textile recycling’. She also has experience in cross-disciplinary research and development, and has previously led larger initiatives as the research program Mistra Future Fashion (2011-2019), among others from her earlier position as researcher at RISE Research Institutes of Sweden. Tree to Textile is a potential game changer in the textile industry, with the vision Better fibers to all.
